NORTH CARROLL HIGH CLOSES AFTER 60 YEARS
Officials cite declining enrollment. Locals whisper another reason.
In June 2016, North Carroll High School closed its doors after six decades of education and community spirit. As the final bell echoed through the halls, a strange silence fell over the building, one that staff say never lifted.
In the school’s last weeks, students and faculty reported lockers slamming shut on their own, whispers in empty corridors, and shadows darting just out of sight. A custodian’s incident report from the final day, withheld by the county, allegedly described former students “still seated at their desks” long after dismissal.
A decade later the building stands untouched: lesson plans still chalked on the boards, desks arranged for students who never returned. Those who pass at night speak of The Final Bell, a phantom chime at midnight that summons whatever remains inside. Those who hear it, the legend says, relive the last day of school over and over.
Will you escape before the final bell tolls… or join its eternal class?
